Bonita Beach Homes For Sale
Bonita Beach in my estimation is a place where you can still get homes for sale on the Beach or close by at very reasonable prices. This area consists of gated communities, condo communities, single-family homes, cottages and even townhomes.
A Hidden Gem
I think over the past 10 years Bonita Beach has started to hit the map. Prior to that, many people would vacation down here on more “popular” beaches such as Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel, Captiva, Vanderbilt and Marco Island. However, the tides are changing.
My First Florida Move
When I first moved from New Jersey to Florida, I took exit 118 (Bonita Beach Rd) coincidentally that was where my hotel was located that I booked for the first week here. I checked in, figured there was a beach somewhere around here and headed west. A short ride later, I hit Bonita Beach and Doc’s Beach House. I realized this place was amazing! No big bridges or big congestion to get to this stretch of beach.
At the corner of Bonita Beach Rd and Hickory Blvd stood 5 towers which are the Bonita Beach and Tennis Club. At the time I was 18 years old, getting ready to attend Florida Gulf Coast University and dreamed one day I would live here on the beach. Several years later I made it and have bought and sold in several beach communities along Bonita Beach, Vanderbilt Beach as well as Fort Myers Beach.
What is Bonita Beach All About
I believe Bonita Beach is about 4.5 miles long. As you take Bonita Beach Rd from I-75 you will run into US 41. Pass through 41 and a few miles later you will hit essentially mid beach. If you travel north you head into Big Hickory which dead ends the north end of the beach into Big Hickory Pass. There is a little bridge that will then take you to Lover’s Key and Fort Myers Beach. Keep in mind it wasn’t too long ago where that wasn’t built and that area ran into a dead end of mangrove.
If you head south, the only way is to walk the sand or take Barefoot Beach Drive which will cost you a fee for parking. This dead-ends into Barefoot Beach Preserve.
Not without going through and staring with amazement of all the high-end beach homes of Barefoot Beach. Barefoot Beach is rated consistently as one of the top 10 beaches. The preserve is left untouched.
When you finally reach the southern tip, you hit Wiggins Pass which is a main pass for boaters living in North Naples and even South Bonita. If you peer across the pass you will see the northern end of Delenor Wiggins State Preserve. Another pristine beach located in North Naples.
Beach Living and Location
One reason I love to reside on Bonita Beach is it’s comparable to island living, not crazy with the spring break rowdy crowd and all with easy access to get to where you need to go. You can access US 41 and I75 within minutes. From those two corridors, you are able to travel out of the state of Florida if you wish or even to the east coast with ease.
Bonita Beach is still close to all of your shopping and dining needs that you could ever need all within a 10 minute drive.
